Age UK Bromley and Greenwich - Greenwich Befriending Service

This service is funded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich and offers a vital lifeline to older people who would otherwise feel totally alone and socially isolated. Our trained and vetted volunteers provide companionship and support through home visits, telephone befriending, and in friendship groups.
Home Visits - One to One Befriending
Home visits for older people who find it difficult to get out and about. Befrienders and clients enjoy a chat and perhaps a cup of tea whilst playing scrabble or doing something else of interest together – one day per week at times convenient to clients, including weekdays and weekends. Befrienders may also accompany clients on short walks out together to increase confidence and social wellbeing.
Telephone Befriending
We offer regular calls from a Greenwich Befriending Volunteer for a chat and companionship over the phone.
Covid 19 Update (April 2020)
We are currently offering telephone befriending to elderly residents who may be feeling isolated due to the Covid 19 lockdown.
