Families Information Service
Greenwich Borough's information service for families with children and young people aged 0-19 (to 25 for young people with a disability or additional need).
Offers information about childcare, activities and family support services. Provides a comprehensive outreach service. Also provides information on parental employment and benefits.
Offers transition support for families with children due to move into primary or secondary education. Also offers targeted support for young parents and families with disabled children by coordinating the borough's Disabled Children and Young People's Register (DCYPR) and regular information mailings.

The service is generally provided to parents or carers with a child / young person aged 0-19 (up to 25 where the young person has additional needs).
Self-referral or professional. Colleagues may refer families to FIS who are requiring supported assistance into services and are not meeting social care thresholds.
How to complain:
If you need to complain or discuss the service you have received from the Families Information Service (FIS), you can do this via the FIS Manager, or through the Royal Borough of Greenwich complaints department.
Support for families:
The Families Information Service provide information, advice and guidance support for all families in the Royal Greenwich borough. This includes information about:
• Children’s Centres.
• Childcare: including registered child-minders, nurseries and pre-school playgroups.
• Breakfast clubs, after school and holiday play schemes.
• Childcare brokerage to help you find suitable childcare.
• Free early learning sessions for three and four year olds (and some two year olds).
• Activities and groups for young people.
• Advice for parents about employment and training.
• Local and national family support services.
The Families Information Service provide a range of targeted support to help families in particular circumstances. This includes:
• Disabled Children and Young People’s Register (DCYPR):
This is a local register for families with children and young people with disabilities and additional needs. Families need to add their child’s details to the Register to be included. Those on the Register receive regular information updates about activities and services for disabled children and young people and will have the opportunity to be consulted about their views on different matters.
• Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Advice and Support Service
(SENDIASS) Formerly the Parent Partnership Service:
This service provides advice, advocacy support and help to families with a child with special educational needs.
