Children’s Physiotherapy Service

The Physiotherapy team is part of the Greenwich Children's Integrated Therapies Service and sits across the 3 Integrated Therapies Service areas of:

1. Early Years Team (under 5s) which focuses on early assessment and intervention of physical needs in the developing child. Community drop in clinics facilitate a ‘no wait’ access to the service and offers onward referral in to the Physiotherapy core service for those children that require further assessment, management co-ordination and specialist intervention to meet their identified physical needs.

2. School Years Team which provides assessment and intervention for children and Young People aged 5-25 who attend mainstream schools. This service area delivers: - quantified physiotherapy provision to CYP have identified Physiotherapy needs on their Education Health Care plans; - urgent and routine clinics to assess and treat musculo-skeletal concerns (5-12 yrs)

3. Special Schools Team which provides assessment and intervention for CYP who have profound and complex needs and attend a Greenwich Special School.

In addition we provide two stand-alone support services that sit between the Early Years and School Years team:

The MOVE team – a designated team to support the needs of CYP in education who are not meeting their expected developmental milestones and require outreach support within their setting to work with the school teams to facilitate integration of movement opportunity in to their daily routine. This programme includes delivery of training within the setting to transfer knowledge of MOVE and how it can be embedded.

Rapid Response team – delivering support to babies born with congenital conditions who require urgent assessment within 10 days of birth. This service also supports complex hospital discharge to help with transition into our core Physiotherapy service and manage the initial level of intervention that is required to facilitate a co-ordinated approach.

Assessment and intervention take place in educational settings, Health Centres, Children’s Centres or the family home, dependent on the presenting needs of the CYP and how they are best managed at the points along their therapy journey.

Oxleas Patient Experience survey

The Oxleas Patient Experience survey gives you the opportunity to feedback on the care and treatment you have received. We also encourage your friends, family and carers to also provide feedback. Hearing your views gives us a better understanding of the needs of our patients, families and carers which helps us to make sure that we are providing a good standard of care.

The short survey only takes a few minutes to complete and you can provide a written comment explaining what you think is working well and what is not. The Patient Experience team will collect the results of the surveys and these are shared with the relevant departments and management teams. This helps us to shape our services to continually improve the quality of the care and treatment we provide.
