LEA - London Exiting Advocacy

The LEA Project (London Exiting Advocacy) works with women in prostitution anywhere in London. It provides a non-judgemental service giving advocacy and support in exiting.

We provide sessions on:

  • one-to-one exit planning
  • accessing a range of workshops
  • welfare benefits and housing advice
  • education, training, volunteering and employment advice
  • accessing health services
  • accessing drug and alcohol services

The LEA Project supports women to access a range of opportunities and runs a night time outreach service.

Accessing the service

Open to women over the age of 18, working, living or in prostitution in London.

Women can contact us themselves, or be referred to us by an agency.

If you want to talk to someone about exiting, you can call us on 020 7683 1270 or email us at lea@niaendingviolence.org.uk

The LEA project started in 2010.  LEA supports and advocates for women who want help to get out of prostitution.  We see prostitution as a form of violence against women and girls. The criteria for our Ascent funded service is any woman is being sexually exploited, and women who are experiencing any form of violence and using substances problematically.

Under the Ascent funded service we will provide support for up to 3 months.

You can contact Lesley directly by phone or send an email with referral form to ascent@niaendingviolence.org.uk.  We are pan London service, with a dedicated focus in ten borough’s and Greenwich is one of them.

Outreach

We also have a night time outreach team who go out on a van to different locations/boroughs in London – where there are women involved in on street.  We offer initial harm minimisation and a hot drink etc… and practical things.  We also offer benefits advice etc.… and the night time team refer women to the day time exiting service.  If agencies identify that women are engaged in ‘on street’ prostitution within a borough then the LEA night time outreach will working in partnership with local services to engage women ‘on street’ in that borough.

Training

In addition we deliver training for practitioners on ‘working with women involved in prostitution’.  We are currently delivering this training nationally and managed to get funding to deliver for free to delegates for a period of time.  It is a one day training and we are hoping to deliver one in London.  If you are interested in attending the training please email lea@niaendingviolence.org.uk
