Scam - Door Step Scams

Royal Greenwich Trading Standards are warning residents to be aware of door step scams. For example; fraudsters knocking on the door and telling residents that they have a loose tile that needs repairing which is often not true. A small price is negotiated on the door step which can turn into thousands of pounds for poor quality work or even no work at all!

Trading Standards advise residents not to use cold callers for any work needed on your property. You can use our What Trader scheme for approved traders. Further info can be obtained by calling Trading Standards on the number below.

Remember
SAY NO to uninvited callers
SAY NO to cash payments
SAY NO to unnecessary repairs
SAY NO politely but firmly
Always ask for official company paperwork when receiving quotes or getting contracts
You DO NOT have to agree to work being offered to you on your door step
REMEMBER your 14 day cooling off period when buying on your doorstep.
