Greenwich Intermediate Care Unit

Intermediate care is a period of care and rehabilitation between the hospital and home, designed to help you regain your independence and enable you to return to normal life as smoothly as possible. This is done through professional advice, support and encouragement.

The key to successful rehabilitation is for us to work together to reach the individual goals that you want to achieve. Intermediate care may also be suitable as an alternative to hospital admission.

A person's length of stay in intermediate care will be determined by their individual progress and may last for up to six weeks. There are three intermediate care units in Greenwich and all aim to help you regain your independence, confidence and skills.

Intermediate care is available to patients registered with general practitioners (GPs) in Greenwich. It is available to anyone over 18 years of age.
