Having our sessions safely managed online means that we can offer you a wider variety of days and times for you to experience sessions from the comfort of your own home
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The program offers a block of 6 sessions, with a review at the end of these six sessions. During this time we will focus on supporting parents to find working solutions alongside a trained therapist to improve overall well-being, decreasing stress and anxiety and develop a sense of greater coping control over their lives.
The sessions are targeted for parents with stressors relating to additional caring responsibilities to all* ASD/ADHD/SEN children.
The first step to take would be to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to complete a counselling request form. This is for you to provide your personal reasons for seeking counselling. As soon as we receive this information back we will invite you for a first appointment, known as an assessment session.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN THE INITIAL MEETING?
An assessment session lasts for around 20-30 minutes During this time, our counsellor will ask certain questions about you and your life. This information helps to make an initial assessment of your circumstance and what steps to take.
You will either both agree for counselling to continue, either on a short or long-term basis or decide that no further appointments are needed. If you decide you would like to continue with counselling, you and our counsellor will schedule the 6 block sessions.
A 'client contract' will also be provided, which is a mutual agreement between the counsellor and the client in which the outline of the therapeutic working alliance is presented
TIPS FOR YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
What are my goals in therapy?
Before attending your first counselling session, it may be helpful to prepare by writing down your reasons for seeking help. Identifying what you hope to gain from counselling helps to give you something to work towards in future sessions.
What questions should I ask?
Take some time before attending your first appointment to prepare some questions you would like to explore with the counsellor.
Find comfort in the fact that everything is kept confidential.
Remember you are not attending counselling to be judged. You are there to have support in your life and the counsellor is highly trained in this field and only wants to provide help.
