Dementia inclusive resources in Museums

In 2020 the National Maritime Museum and Age Exchange were awarded funding from the Museums Association and Esmee Fairburn's Collection Fund to begin 'All Aboard', a project responding to the increased isolation experienced by those living with dementia during the global pandemic. The aim of the project was to use the travel journal collection to create reminiscence resources for people living with dementia to increase their sense of connection, confidence and wellbeing.

The National Maritime Museum also received funding from the Windrush Fund to work with the Caribbean Social Forum to create culturally specific resources for people with Caribbean heritage living with dementia.

Hear about our journey on these two projects, the invaluable support and guidance we received from our partners and communities, and the lessons we've learnt along the way.
