Community Options
A Community Learning Champion (CLC) is a volunteer who supports and encourages people in their local community to learn. They also guide learners towards appropriate local courses.
Volunteering as a Community Learning Champion can bring personal satisfaction, development opportunities, improved career prospects and an increase in self-confidence and motivation.
In addition, you will be helping people in your local community to enjoy the benefits that accessing learning can bring to their lives.
If you are a good listener, enjoy helping people, are passionate about learning and have some time to spare to share that passion, becoming a Community Learning Champion could be for you!

If you are passionate about Lifelong Learning and can offer a few hours a week, then this could be a volunteering opportunity that suits you.
Greenwich Volunteer Centre provides free training and development for CLCs.
All new Community Learning Champions attend a mandatory induction day that will clearly outline their role, as well as a one-day workshop on Information, Advice and Guidance.
They also have the chance to work towards an NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance (accredited by OCN).
Community Learning Champions in Greenwich are invited and encouraged to attend a ‘Forum’ meeting every six weeks, where they can meet and exchange information, and give support to one another.
