Health Visiting and DVA

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust Health Visiting teams ask about domestic violence as part of the Family Health Needs assessment. This can take place antenatally, following the birth of a baby, when a family arrive in the area or at any time where the professional thinks the question is indicated. Opportunities will be provided to see the possible victim alone to hold sensitive conversations. Health Visitors continue to work with families at risk of, or experiencing, domestic violence and abuse (DVA), including participation in the Child Protection process where this has become necessary.
