Serious Case Review Work Group

The Group undertakes the Greenwich Safeguarding Children’s Board’s (GSCB) responsibilities to monitor, scrutinise and evaluate all safeguarding practice in the Borough. The Board considers cases that meet the criteria for a serious case review (SCR) and when a SCR is undertaken, ensures that all recommendations are acted upon and monitored on behalf of the GSCB.

The Group also contributes to SCR’s undertaken by other local authorities, as appropriate, ensuring that the outcome and lessons learnt are fed back to the SCR work group and the wider GSCB network.

The Board considers the outcome of other review processes including Sudden Untoward Incidents, Individual Management reviews and Cases of Concern.  It also considers lessons learnt emerging from national and local reviews of SCR’s, including relevant Ofsted reports and reviews undertaken by the London Safeguarding Children Board and academic research.
