Debt Centre Greenwich

Debt Centre Greenwich was set up in 2021 in response to the Covid pandemic. The centre is run part time by our debt centre manager and a group of volunteers through the local churches in Greenwich in partnership with Christians Against Poverty (CAP).

We aim to provide free relief of financial hardship through the provision of pastoral support and access to free financial advice assisting people with debt-related problems living in the postcode areas SE3, SE7, SE9, SE10, SE12, SE18 and parts of SE2, SE8, SE28, BR7 and DA15, who through lack of means would otherwise be unable to obtain such support and advice.

In partnership with CAP, Debt Centre Greenwich provides residents access to free debt help throughout the borough.  CAP is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

If you are struggling with unmanageable debt the first step is to call CAP free on 0800 328 006 or visit capuk.org. The enquiries team in Bradford will give you an opportunity to talk, in confidence, about your situation. There is no obligation to take things further.

If you wish to go ahead, the team will link you with one of our friendly Debt Coaches.

Our Debt Coach will arrange an appointment to visit you for a preliminary face-to-face session. They take a full picture of your finances.

The Debt Coach will work with you to set up an affordable budget that you can stick to and provide a route out of debt; stepping in between the creditors and yourself.

It normally takes three meetings of going through your paperwork until you are offered one or more options for formally dealing with your debts.

The service is friendly, confidential, supportive and completely free.

Our free service, is run through the local churches, providing the practical, emotional and spiritual support needed to start your debt free journey.

We know that debt does not discriminate. Therefore, we seek to ensure that nobody receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, nationality, religion, age, gender, marital status, sexual preference or disability. All are welcome around our table.

We will walk with you every step of the way, because at Debt Centre Greenwich, we believe there is:

aways help

always support

always hope.
