Safeguarding Adults Month

November is Safeguarding Adults Month

The council will be holding a series of free events across the borough where people can find out more about how to keep adults at risk from harm, domestic abuse or neglect safe in the community and get more information about the range services which are available to help protect vulnerable adults.

Adult abuse is when something is said or done to a vulnerable adult that makes them feel upset, hurt or frightened, abuse can include physical, financial, sexual, psychological and domestic abuse or could be an act of neglect. Whatever its form all abuse is intolerable and we all must do everything we can to ensure that vulnerable residents in the borough are kept safe.

In many cases the person responsible for the abuse will be well known to the person being abused.

The Council will be running public events across the borough; organisations attending include, the Metropolitan Police, Safeguarding Adults, Carers Cenre, London Fire Brigade and Trading Standards and many more. No need to book just turn up.
