How we support children with vision impairment

Our Sensory Services team works across schools and families. They help make sure children with vision impairment achieve their potential and get the support they need.  

We can:

  • give tailored training and support for parents or carers 
  • give vision aid support 
  • carry out assessments 
  • give strategies to develop spoken language 
  • write reports for Education, Health and Care plans and more 
  • attend meetings for transition support, Team Around the Child (TAC) provision mapping or annual reviews 
  • give habilitation training and support such as pre-cane or route training 
  • instruct your child on braille 
  • liaise with other professionals and agencies 
  • visit your home regularly when your child is under 5 
  • go to school or clinic visits with you
