A befriending service for refugees and asylum seekers

HostNation help refugees and asylum seekers find a local friend to help settle into the UK.

You both start with an agreement to be in touch for three months but many friendships go so well that they continue for years.

They will introduce you online when you are both ready and then you can meet face-to-face and go on outings in your new neighbourhood.

Your new friend can help you make connections with your community, practice your English skills and explore your new home.

You can ask someone to refer you to HostNation if you:
  • are an asylum seeker or refugee
  • live in London or Greater London
  • are over 18
  • speak some English and have a mobile phone
  • are not in crisis with your asylum case, mental health or housing
  • are going to be living in the same area for the next six months

HostNation will always match female refugees with women.

If you are a man, they may match you to a man or a woman. This is because there are more female than male befrienders.
