Eating disorder clinic
An eating disorders clinic that offers treatment for eating disorders for children and teens who live locally, and are registered to a GP in Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham or Southwark.
They do not treat ARFID, which are treated in their other clinics.
The majority of young people they treat go on to make a full recovery. Around 1 in 10 patients may need a brief period of additional treatment in the Intensive Treatment Programme (ITP), and less than 1 in 25 may need admission to the inpatient psychiatric unit.
START (Swift Targeted Admission Reduction Team) is integrated within the eating disorders clinic. They work collaboratively with professionals and families to reduce the need for inpatient admissions. START provides brief interventions for young people at risk of hospitalisation to helps them continue their eating disorder treatment in the community.
