Homeshare for people who need help at home and those looking for affordable accommodation

If someone has a spare room and needs support around the home, they can get matched to someone looking for somewhere affordable to live in exchange for help at home.

Homesharers provide up to 40 hours of support each month, with tasks including:
  • cooking
  • DIY
  • doing the laundry
  • gardening
  • helping with electronics
  • shopping
  • companionship

This help allows the householder to live independently for longer, in their own home.

Once Novus match two people, the householder (and sometimes the householder's family) and the homesharer will have the opportunity to meet each other to decide if they would like to go ahead with the match.

If both people are happy with the match and decide to share, the Novus coordinator will help to draw up an agreement.

Novus will contact the homesharer and householder every month via phone to discuss their ongoing match, and will visit the home every 3 months to check how things are going.

Homeshare is not a:
  • live-in carer service
  • replacement for personal care support
  • letting agency
  • property rental bed and breakfast
Organisation: Novus Homeshare
