Sensory Service

Support for children aged 0 to 19 at home and within schools, who have semi- or permanent deafness or vision impairment. 

Qualified Teachers of the Deaf or Vision Impaired visit schools and homes to help meet each child’s individual needs. 

They provide: 
  • deafness or vision awareness training and British Sign Language courses
  • Specialist Outreach Workers to support teachers and families
  • training by a Habilitation Specialist or Deaf Instructor
  • specialist resources for schools such as low vision aids, Braille facilities, radio aids and adapted curriculum materials

How to book

  • Referral needed
    You will need to be referred by an audiology or ophthalmology professional or another school or health professional if you have evidence of a clinical diagnosis.
