Special Educational Needs (SEN) Team

Get support for children and young people who have special educational needs (SEN) from the SEN team.

They will:
  • do an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment
  • prepare and review education, health and care plans (EHCPs)
  • make sure provision is put in place to meet the requirements of the EHCP
  • help you with any questions about a child or young person's EHCP, EHC Needs Assessment or Statement.

They follow the requirements of the SEN Code of Practice.

Referrals
You should contact your child's school as the first point of contact if your child has special educational needs and get SEN Support.

If a child needs an EHC Needs Assessment, the child's education setting will refer them to the SEN team. The Special Educational Needs Coordinator will normally make this referral.

For very young children, a medical professional like a paediatrician may refer them.

Parents, carers or young people can request an EHC Needs Assessment.
