St Alfege with St Peters School Nursery
Our nursery provides children with excellent opportunities to explore and learn with a qualified class teacher and experienced Early Years Practitioner.
As part of a school setting, children in our nursery have access to a well-resourced classroom environment which they share with the Reception class. This has the benefit of helping nursery children to become familiar with the school environment and supports a smooth, confident transition into full-time education. This close connection helps children develop the skills they need to be school-ready.
Children who attend our nursery benefit from being part of the wider school community. They take part in a range of school activities such as library visits, involvement in church activities at Easter and Christmas, whole-school picnics, and celebrations like our annual carnival —experiences which enrich their learning and sense of belonging.
Our nursery benefits from a large, recently refurbished outdoor area giving our children valuable opportunities to extend their learning through active play and discovery. We are also fortunate enough to have a large enclosed garden area where children can experience the joy of growing food and explore natural surroundings; this includes our pond which is home to a range of creatures all year round.
We also offer onsite wraparound care provided by an external childcare provider. This includes a Breakfast Club from 7.30am and an After School Club running until 6.30pm, supporting families with flexible childcare before and after the school day.
We are conveniently located within easy reach of several transport links, including nearby bus routes 188,199,177,386, 286, 129 and the Cutty Sark DLR station.
The nursery has 3 different types of places.
We have the capacity for a maximum of 26 children to be in school at any one time. This is because our ratios are based on having at one qualified teacher and one Early Year’s Practitioner working with the class. When registering your interest for a nursery place you will need to let us know whether you would like a full time, or part time place and if you are entitled a 30-hour code.
Children can be placed on a waiting list for our Nursery school in the term before they turn 3 and if necessary, places will be allocated according to our admissions policy.
We have 3 admissions periods in the academic year.
