Most autistic children receive the support they need in mainstream schools.
Some children may need more support to access mainstream classes. They may benefit from being able to spend some of their day in a smaller environment called a designated special provision (DSP).
The DSPs in Royal Greenwich are:
- Alderwood ASD DSP – for children aged 5 to 11 years
- Boxgrove School ASD DSP – for children aged 5 to 11 years
- Discovery School ASD DSP – for children aged 5 to 11 years
- Foxfield School ASD DSP – for children aged 5 to 11 years
- Millennium School ASD DSP – for children aged 5 to 11 years
- Halley Academy ASD DSP – for children aged 11 to 16 years
- The John Roan ASD DSP – for children aged 11 to 16 years
- Thomas Tallis ASD DSP – for children aged 11 to 16 years
- Woolwich Poly boys ASD DSP – for children aged 11 to 16 years
Some children need specialist teaching and support all day. The special schools in Royal Greenwich are:
- Willow Dene School (primary and secondary)
- Charlton Park Academy (secondary)
- King's Park Campus, Newhaven School (secondary)
- The Nook at Waterside School (for Year 5 and Year 6)
