Additional support for children under 3

If your child needs or may need additional support, a professional working with your child can refer them to the Early Years Coordination Team (EYCT).

Your child is eligible if they:

  • live in or have just moved to Royal Greenwich
  • are under 3 years old
  • are not attending an early years education or care setting
  • are known or should be referred to 3 or more specialist services in the health or education sector

If you are a professional in the health or education sector, find out how to refer a child you work with who needs multiple services.

What happens after a referral

If your child is needs additional support and meets the criteria, EYCT will refer your child to our Early Years Inclusion Service (EYIS).

We will send a keyworker to visit your family and agree together on what support we can offer you and your child. This may include help with:

  • applying for the Disability Living Allowance which can help you with the extra costs of looking after a disabled child
  • finding and accessing relevant community services such as an early years setting
  • giving advice to make sure your child feels included within the community
  • providing advice, support and information to families

Our keyworker will work regularly with your family to make sure your child is getting the level of support they need. This will continue until your child enters an early years setting.
