Ajoda Community Alliance runs a one- day, weekly luncheon club, for the elderly African and Afro Caribbean, aged 65 and above living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The project involves holding a weekly, two hours luncheon club. This will help to improve their well- being to develop new relationships.  We provide food and refreshments, indoor games, quiz, music and talks from different people on a variety of topics of interest to elderly people.

The project aims to provide exciting opportunities for the elderly to meet, relax with friends and neighbours. It will also serve as a break to the boredom experienced by these elderly due to isolation and loneliness. This is an annual memorial event held the 2nd Friday in August. In 2023 this will be Friday 11 August and in 2024 Friday 9 August etc.  The tree sapling, a June Berry, was planted in October 2010. The first organised annual event started in August 2014. We run classes in authentic jujutsu from Japan, tried and tested in the samurai era and applicable to modern self-defence scenarios. When executed correctly good jujutsu does not require a great deal of physical strength or athleticism to be effective.
