    Drug and alcohol users requiring treatment will be assessed by the Primary Care Drug and Alcohol Service in the first instance. Only if the individual has complex care needs will a referral to the Beresford be made, including one or more of the following: severe and enduring mental health issues, severe and complex physical health problems, chemical dependence on both alcohol and opiates, pregnancy, high risk offending or those with a history of violent offending, high risk of suicide and serious self-harm.

    The Primary Care Drug and Alcohol Service (PCDAS) is the main service for people with alcohol or opiate dependencies in the borough. It provides substitute prescribing, key work, community detox, referral on for inpatient services and referral on to the Complex Needs Service at the Beresford Project for those who require higher levels of support.

    Service users must be at least 4 weeks clean of their drug of choice to attend. Aftercare service offers a twelve week rolling programme, which helps service users with substance misuse issues look at their negative behaviour patterns and address their underlying issues.     Programme is a set of treatment options based in therapeutic interventions which aim to enhance a person's understanding of their drug use, their behaviours and their ability to change and to enable forward movement in their treatment and personal development. The programme is available to anyone over 18 who are accessing local tier 2 and tier 3 treatment services for class A drug use and those referred from probation (Greenwich and Lewisham only). The programme can offer one to one key work, structured group work and solution focused brief therapy.

      Dear Albert is a social enterprise which specialises in peer mentoring and making recovery more visible by bringing together existing resources. We have strong links with peer support fellowships such as Smart Recovery, NA, AA and work closely with statutory funded drug and alcohol agencies, private rehabs, local authorities and substance misuse charities.

    Offers community care assessments in which the worker will meet with the service user to develop a care plan. This could consist of accessing community treatment or inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation. One to one counselling therapy sessions and an Alcohol Support Group are available.
