London Fire Brigade
We are London's fire and rescue service - the busiest in the country and one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city.
Our vision is to be a world class fire and rescue service for London, Londoners and visitors.
We will always respond to fires and other emergencies but our work has changed over the years, now with a much stronger emphasis on fire prevention and community safety. The Brigade is part of a group of organisations that make up the Greater London Authority.
Fire authority
The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority runs the Brigade.
Who we are
We are part of a group of organisations under the 'umbrella' of the Greater London Authority (GLA). For more information on our relationship with other authorities when preparing for a major incident please visit our Emergency Planning page.
The LFB is run by the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA), known on this site as the Fire Authority.
