The Woolwich & Plumstead Roses Women's Institute
The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills and meet other women, to take part in a wide variety of activities, and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
Born in 2016, the Woolwich and Plumstead Roses are the official Women's Institute of SE18. Like all WIs, we're a mixture of ages and backgrounds and we meet monthly on the first Thursday of the month from 7.30pm. Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment for all local women to meet, make new friends, learn from one another, make an impact in the community, try new activities and most importantly, to have fun.
As well as our monthly meetings, we have a number of members-only activities, for example: meals together in other members' home or in local venues, outings locally or in London, crafting. Some members also meet up informally to go to the cinema or lunch or walk together.
Come along as a guest for £5 - up to a maximum of three times, after which time if you would like to come along you will need to join as a member. Membership costs £47 per year (for 2024-25) and includes entry to 11 monthly meetings per year and all clubs (additional costs may apply), eight issues of WI Life magazine and a member's discount booklet.
